An Overview of the Questions

Question 1:
How can I keep my settings when I want to install a new ActiveRadio software version?

Question 2:
I have more than one soundcard and the ActiveRadio upgrade module in my computer. When I use the record button in the radio application and start the wave recorder nothing is recorded.

Question 3:
I don't receive RDS data.

Question 4:
After installing the ActiveRadio software, I get the error message: Error initializing hardware.

Question 1:

How can I keep my settings when I want to install a new ActiveRadio software version?

Answer 1:

Copy the "TTRADIO.INI" file to temporary directory before the update installation and copy it back afterwards.
Beginning with version 2.5 of the ActiveRadio Software your settings are automatically saved, when you update to a higher version.

Question 2:

I have more than one soundcard and the ActiveRadio upgrade module in my computer. When I use the record button in the radio application and start the wave recorder nothing is recorded.

Answer 2:

The wave recorder always takes the record device that is selected by the Wave Mapper. Go to Windows settings - Multimedia and select the soundcard on which the radio module is connected as your recording source.

Question 3:

I don't receive RDS data.

Answer 3:

• For RDS a strong reception is necessary. If you use the aerial shipped with this product select a strong station and hold the ends of the aerial in a right angle.Try different directions for best RDS reception.For faultless RDS reception you should connect the ActiveRadio to a roof aerial or to the cable.
• You have the Highscreen RadioUpgradeBoostar module from Vobis, which has no RDS receiver. For that reason the module is cheaper than the TerraTec ActiveRadio upgrade module.
• Please ensure that you are using the latest ActiveRadio software.

Question 4:

After installing the ActiveRadio software, I get the error message: Error initializing hardware.

Answer 4:

• Probably you are using an old version of the ActiveRadio Software. You can obtain the latest version from our Internet site.
• Unfortunately there is an error in the Base 1/64 driver configuration file
  <ADISOUND.INI> on the ActiveRadio CD 2.0:
  
  The entry:
  
  [CustomDevice]
  PortLength=8
  
  is wrong!!! PortLength must be 1!
  There are three ways to solve the problem (in any cases you have to remove the Base 1 drivers first and reboot):
  
• Download the latest Base 1 drivers and reinstall them.
  You can obtain the latest drivers from the German TerraTec Internet site --> ftp://ftp.terratec.de/treiber/base1_64/base1nt.exe
  
• Install the Pnp Enabler
  (PNPISA.SYS - you find it on your NT 4.0 CD; right-click on the file to install)
  1) Reboot
  2) PnP will find a new device -> follow the instructions
  
• Copy the NT-driver directory to your hard disk
  1) Edit <ADISOUND.INI>: PortLength=1
  2) Reinstall the drivers from your harddisk
  
  You don't have to install the ActiveRadio software again.

Question 5:

After plugging the ActiveRadio ugrade module to my XLerate or EWS 64S I cannot close my PC case anymore.

Answer 5:

To be able to close your PC case after you plugged an ActiveRadio upgrade module on the XLerate or on the EWS 64S you need a special cable and the belonging antenna slotbracket. Call our Hotline to receive the cable and the antenna slotbracket, if it was not already included in the scope of delivery.
Please have your registration number respectively the invoice with date of purchase ready when contacting us. For contact details please see the information at the end of this FAQ list.

Question 6:

I press the 'Seek' or 'Tuning' button and after a few seconds the following error message is displayed: No station found!

Answer 6:

• Check the antenna connection at the ActiveRadio module itself and at the antenna slotbracket.
• Turn the controller 'Level' at the right bottom of the ActiveRadio Software to the most left position to ensure maximum reception.

Question 7:

ERROR MESSAGE: "The required DLL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSVCRT.DLL was not found!"

Answer 7:

Congratulations! You obviously have a new computer (or just reinstalled Windows 95 or 98). The ActiveRadio software uses some DLLs that do not belong to the Windows Operating system but that are used by many programs, e.g. Internet Explorer. Please install the Internet Explorer and try again.

Question 8:

The ActiveRadio software was running fine, but now I am not able to start it anymore.

Answer 8:

Due to poor RDS reception it might be the case that the RDS time code is invalid or corrupted.

• Check and correct your system time and system date.
• Start the ActiveRadio Software, go to 'RDS Options' and deactivate the 'Automatically update systemtime' entry.
  Confirm with OK.

Question 9:

The ActiveRadio StandAlone ISA-card is not found by the BIOS.

Answer 9:

This error can be caused by a bad PNP checksum in the EEprom.
Before you contact our support for an exchange of your card, check the following things.

• Try the card in every available ISA slot.
• Make sure the card has full contact and sits properly in the ISA slot.
• Set the 8-bit and the 16-bit I/O recovery time - if possible in your BIOS - to the slowest/highest values

If all this does not help contact our Support.

Question 10:

How can I use my own wave recorder instead of the standard Windows application for my recording in the ActiveRadio Software?

Answer 10:

By default the Windows Wave Recorder is launched when you click on the record button. The Windows Wave Recorder only allows recordings of a certain time lenght depending on the selected recording quality.However, you can use another wave recorder. Go to the directory where the ActiveRadio Software was installed and open the TTRadio.ini file.
Go to the following line:

Here you can enter your own record application with the fully qualified path. That's it.
