What does C.A.R. stand for and what can it be compared to?

Answer 1:
C.A.R. stands for Compressed Audio Recorder. It comfortably replaces the classical HiFi tape deck´s functionality, with comprehensive options for playback. (playlists, filter functions)

What colors does the C.A.R. 4000 come in?

Answer 2:
The C.A.R 4000 is only available in black. Other colors are not planned.

Yes, the m3po rackit can be used with the C.A.R. 4000.

How large is the C.A.R. 4000?

Answer 5:
The dimensions are: Wide: 43cm, High: 7,5 cm, Deep: 30 cm.

How large is the internal hard disk?

Answer 6:
The hard disk capacity is 40 GB. A larger drive cannot, for technical reasons, be implemented.

Which In-/output´s does the device have?

Answer 7:
1 Line out, 1 Headphone out, 1 opt. Digital out, 1 opt. Digital in, 2 Line in, 2 Microphone ins and a USB In/Out

Which frequencies are supported by the digital In-/Output?

Answer 8:
The input supports 32 and 44,1 kHz, the output 44,1kHz

Are variable Bitrates supported?

Answer 9:
Yes, for playback.

Which bitrates are available for recording?

Answer 10:
CD recording supports a minimum compression rate of 192 kbit in the first release. Uncompressed recording is also supported (256 and 320 kbit will be supported in a later FW revision). The highest compression rate is in general 48 kbit.

Which audio formats are supported?

· Playbacck: MP3, WMA, WAV and CD audio

· Recording: MP3 and WAV

How are audio CD´s recognized? Does this happen automatically?

Answer 12:
Audio CD´s are automatically identified upon insertion thanks to the integrated Gracenote CDDB databank.

Can the CDDB and firmware be updated?

Answer 13:
Yes, per USB or update CD.

No, unfortunately not.

No, unfortunately not.

How well does the C.A.R. work with copy protected audio CD´s?

Answer 16:
Because this type of CD no longer implements the audio CD Redbook standard, problems can arise. We are currently working on a solution to completely support playback of this type of CD. The record function will remain, for copyright reasons, unavailable.
